Researching all of the opportunities for work from home or remote jobs can be a daunting task. The good news is that there are abundant opportunities, many of which might just suit you to a tee.

Here are six additional ideas for retirement income:

UHaul

UHaul is looking for Sales Reps and Reservations Agents to work from home.  You’ll be able to see which positions are available in most areas. Some are area specific.

Amazon

Although a number of these positions aren’t work from home jobs, Amazon has hundreds of job openings in more than twenty different job categories including:

  • Solutions Architect
  • Software Development
  • Facilities, Maintenance, & Real Estate
  • Fulfillment & Operations Management
  • Sales, Advertising, & Account Management
  • Operations, IT, & Support Engineering
  • Audio / Video / Photography Production
  • Investigation & Loss Prevention
  • Supply Chain/Transportation Management

Amazon is also involved in University recruiting, Fulfillment Center jobs and Remote careers.  The opportunity to work in locations around the globe is ever expanding.

Rev.com

Rev.com is basically a site for freelance transcriptionists, translators and captioners. They describe their service as follows:

Like traditional vendors, we rely on a network of hand-picked freelancers. Unlike traditional vendors, we use technology to offer unbeatable quality, speed, and value.

Apple.com

Apple is hiring in several states and around the world.  At the time of this post, there are 600 job openings, including work from home jobs as At Home Advisors called AppleCare.

You will need experience in technical matters but it doesn’t matter where you live for most of the positions.

Indeed.com

You can search Indeed.com by Job Type, Salary Estimate, Location, and even by Company.  Companies around the world list job openings, too.  (affiliate)

What is really great about Indeed.com is that it’s a free job search site.

Indeed is the #1 job site worldwide, with over 180 million unique visitors per month. Indeed is available in more than 50 countries and 28 languages, covering 94% of global GDP.

I just completed a search on  Indeed.com for Work From Home jobs in Mesa, Arizona and there are 245 jobs available at the time of this post.

In the Mesa area there are fifteen companies with Work From Home job openings.  That’s pretty impressive!

This is just an example, of course…check the site for openings wherever you live – including 50 countries around the world!

Flex Jobs

Flex Jobs is a good resource for finding freelance job openings with a variety of companies.  United Health Group is one of the companies with freelance openings. For example, lists freelance positions available at United Health Group. There are dozens of open jobs for a variety of skills right now.

Just now Flex Jobs has a posting of 25 companies with remote jobs available.  According to the website:

FlexJobs Featured Employers or companies that have one or more divisions as FlexJobs Featured Employers. They partner directly with FlexJobs to post their remote and flexible job openings and to find the best talent.

You should know that FlexJobs is not a free site.  You’ll need to register to apply for jobs and there are several levels of membership: $14.95 per month, $29.95 per quarter or $49.95 per year.

Upwork

Somewhere I read that freelancing and working remotely described as the “Flexible Workforce of the Future” which sounds about right.

Upwork is a large site dedicated to freelancing jobs.

It’s a great way to start your freelancing career and gain some experience before setting off on your own (if you decide to be an independent freelancer, that is). You’ll be able to see what businesses are looking for and how you can incorporate their needs into your offerings.

Upwork lists freelancing gigs in a dozen unique categories:

  • Accounting & Counsulting
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Administrative Support
  • Legal
  • Customer Service
  • Writing
  • Translation
  • Design & Creative
  • Web, Mobile & Software Development
  • IT and Networking
  • Engineering & Architecture
  • Analytics & Data Science

How Upwork Works

Businesses search for freelancers and freelancers search for projects.

As a freelancer you would be an independent contractor. You can grow your business but on your terms. Your schedule is up to you.

As a freelancer, you’ll create a compelling profile then search for appropriate projects. You’ll apply for a project by submitting a proposal. Top rated freelancers have a solid relationship with their clients and most often work for that business again and again.

Upwork charges a freelancer service fee which is a percentage of the earnings. It’s a sliding fee with the percentage decreasing as your billings with each client increase.

  • 20% – First $500 client billing across all contracts with them
  • 10% for total billings between %500.01 and $10,000 with that client
  • 5% for total billlings that exceed $10,000 with that client

For more information or to apply visit the Upwork webite.
